Hi-Drive Final Event successfully concludes four years of European collaboration
The Hi-Drive Final Event, held on 25 November 2025 at the Autoworld Museum in Brussels, marked the successful conclusion of one of Europe’s flagship projects in automated driving. Bringing together more than 300 participants from industry, research, public authorities, and the wider mobility community, the event reached full capacity and reflected the strong interest in the project’s results and their future implications. The event format was designed to encourage direct exchange and hands-on interaction. Short stage presentations introduced each thematic block, followed by guided visits and in-depth discussions at the exhibition stands. This combination enabled participants to engage directly with project partners, explore concrete use cases, and gain a deeper understanding of the technologies and methodologies developed within Hi-Drive. The programme concluded with a networking reception, providing further opportunities for dialogue and exchange.
Project results shaping the future of automated mobilityThe Final Event highlighted the broad scope and impact of Hi-Drive, demonstrating its contribution to advancing automated driving technologies across Europe. Building on the foundations of the L3Pilot project, Hi-Drive set out to extend the operational capabilities of automated driving systems and improve their robustness in real-world conditions. Central to this effort were the development and validation of key “Technology Enablers”, including V2X communication, high-precision positioning, cybersecurity frameworks, and machine-learning-based approaches. Together, these technologies support the extension of Operational Design Domains and enable automated systems to operate more reliably across a wider range of scenarios. The presented results were grounded in a comprehensive testing programme involving 45 operations, more than 6,000 test runs, and approximately 27,000 kilometres driven across Europe, including extensive automated driving under real traffic conditions. This large-scale evidence base provided valuable insights into system performance and helped assess the broader impacts of automation on safety, efficiency, and mobility.
A collaborative achievementThe successful delivery of the Hi-Drive Final Event and the project as a whole was made possible by the strong commitment, expertise, and collaboration of all partners involved. Over the course of the project, partners from across Europe contributed their knowledge, resources, and dedication to advancing the field of connected and automated mobility. From large-scale testing and technical innovation to user studies, outreach activities, and dissemination efforts, the project brought together a diverse and highly complementary consortium. The Final Event in Brussels provided a shared platform to reflect on these achievements, showcase the collective results, and celebrate the progress made together. The Hi-Drive consortium would like to express its sincere gratitude to all partners, contributors, and stakeholders who have supported the project throughout its duration. Their collaboration, openness, and commitment have been essential in making both the project and its Final Event a success. ________ #automateddriving #ccam #europeancommission #horizon2020 #enablers #ODD #EUCAR2025 #hi-drive #safety #User #CodeOfPractice #LargeScaleDemonstration |
