User Training Programme #4 - WIVW 04.06.2025 | WIVW expands the Hi-Drive ADAS User Training Programme to the simulator.

Hi-Drive ADAS User Training in the Driving Simulator at WIVW | Germany

As part of the Hi-Drive User Training Programme, the Würzburg Institute for Traffic Sciences (WIVW) conducted a simulator-based training session focused on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). In contrast to the on-road formats run by Mobility Club partners, this session was held entirely in a high-fidelity driving simulator.

Participants first completed a short theoretical module via video, followed by practical driving exercises in the simulator. This allowed for controlled testing of system boundaries, failure scenarios, and specific traffic situations—without the risks or variables of real-world conditions.

The simulator environment ensured that all users encountered identical scenarios, independent of weather or traffic. This made the format especially effective for individuals with limited prior exposure to ADAS technologies.

Feedback from participants underlined the value of this approach, particularly in terms of safety, clarity, and accessibility. WIVW’s contribution adds an important dimension to the Hi-Drive User Training Programme by demonstrating the benefits of simulator-based training for user education in automated driving.
